2021 Campaign Kick-off to Elect Kelly Kosek Strongsville Council At-Large on June 15

Thank You to Strongsville Women’s League

I’d like to thank the Strongsville Women’s League and the League of Women Voters for hosting the candidate’s night at the Strongsville KOSEK TO CROP - CopyRec Center on Monday, September 25.  The video of the event will be available on Channel 21 at 10 am and 7 pm each day between now and the election, if you couldn’t make it on Monday.  When the video is available online, I will share a link.

The Strongsville Post Asks: Why Are you Running for Council?

The Strongsville Post asked each of the six candidates why they are running for Strongsville City Council.  Kelly had this to say:

“I’m running for city council because I want to make Strongsville a better place. I see Strongsville as a city at a crossroads. There are some big decisions looming. What will Strongsville look like in the next 10 or 20 years? The decisions that city council makes now will impact the city for years to come. As a mom I’m dismayed that the concerns of families don’t seem to be viewed as a top priority. It’s important that city council be more transparent on the issues it is voting on without just ramming ordinances through without giving residents a real opportunity to be heard. I’m the only candidate not on city council so I’m the only candidate that can bring change to city council. I’m running because residents deserve the choice between more of the same and something different.”

Great Turnout for Strongsville Homecoming Parade!

20156011_1807848489525921_7122716132840229443_n

Thank you to everyone who came out to march in the 2017 Strongsville Homecoming Parade.  We had amazing turnout!  Some of the best signs included, “Moms Know Best,” “Vote 4 My Mom,” “Kosek for Change,” and “Kelly for Families.”  It was hot, but it was so wonderful to meet so many Strongsville residents!

SawyerandAJ

This kiddos were running around like crazies before the parade, so they opted to catch a wagon ride for the parade itself.  Such troopers on a crazy-hot day!

Balloons

The star balloons were the perfect compliment to our logo!  Thank you again to everyone who participated and everyone who came out to the parade.  I’m excited for all of the folks I met and I’m looking forward to getting to know even more residents in the days to come!

Dedicated Neighbor.

Why do I want to be your Strongsville City Council Member at Large?

As a Neighbor, I have Strongsville’s best interests at heart.

My husband, Jason, and I moved to Strongsville from the east side, when we were expecting our youngest son.  After considering other northeast Ohio communities, we chose Strongsville because of its strong sense of family, excellent schools, and the conveniences created by local businesses and Strongsville’s proximity to downtown.

I’ve always endeavored to improve my community in whatever way I can.  I served as the vice president of the Strongsville Early Learning Preschool PTA and am a member of the Surrarrer PTA.  I also recently joined the Strongsville Women’s League.  I serve on the board of Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, a non-profit focused on providing communications skills to deaf children and adults, as well as children and adults who experience speech disruption or delay.

Lawyer.

Why am I qualified to represent you on Strongsville City Council?

I’m a lawyer with fifteen years of experience.

I have practiced law for 15 years.  I am a litigation partner at Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP where I am a business litigation attorney.  My litigation experience has prepared me to be a zealous advocate for Strongsville citizens.  I am a problem solver.  I want to use my problem-solving skills and my experience analyzing difficult issues to benefit our community.

Mom.

Why am I running for Strongsville City Council?

I’m running because I am a mom.

As a mom to two boys, Sawyer (6) and Beckett (2), I am fully invested in Stongsville’s success and future.  Our boys will be attending Strongsville City Schools for the next 16 years.  I understand what Strongsville families need from the City Council.  As your representative on City Council, I will approach each issue with thoughtful consideration of how that issue will impact Strongsville families and Strongsville’s future.  I will listen to residents and do my best to represent their needs.

About Kelly

I grew up in Washington, PA, where My parents, Joe and Debbie, taught me the value of hard work.  After high school, I attended Allegheny College and cemented my determination to attend law school and become a lawyer.

I met my husband while at Allegheny College and we got married in 2001.  I graduated from the College of William and Mary School of Law in 2002.  After graduation, we decided to make our home in Northeast Ohio.

We lived in University Heights for 12 years.  In 2014, when we were expecting our second child, we decided to find our forever home.  We considered many communities throughout Northeast Ohio, but decided that Strongsville was where we wanted to raise our family.

Currently, I am a partner at Hahn Loeser & Parks. Our two sons, Sawyer (6) and Beckett (2), bring Jason and I so much joy, while keeping us hopping!

This year, Sawyer started Kindergarten at Strongsville City Schools and I turned 40.  I am hopeful that 2017 will be the best year yet for our family of four and for Strongsville.
